World Steel Trade

"The global steel industry is recovering faster than expected from the recession but the strength and timing of the upturn varies across regions. The market outlook has improved over the past six months owing to the resilience of emerging economies, especially China. World apparent steel use is forecast by the World Steel Association to increase by 10.7% to 1,241 million tonnes in 2010 following a decline of 6.7% in 2009. According to these projections, world steel demand in 2010 would exceed the pre crisis level of 2007. In 2011, world steel demand is forecast to grow by 5.3% to reach a historical high of 1,306 million tonnes."

As reported by OECD’s Steel Committee Meeting in Paris on 6-7 May  2010

The recent global recession has indeed slowed down the steel production and trades around the world. With the current economy recovery and improvement of the overall industrial outlook, demand and trades for steel are expected to rise.

Against this background, Asia Business Forum is pleased to present the WORLD STEEL TRADE CONFERENCE to be held in Singapore on 17-18 January 2011. Themed "Determining Steel Trade and Business Opportunities around the World", this Conference will be very timely in assessing the business outlook, opportunities, risks and challenges of the global steel market and trade to capitalize on the developments of the industry. It will be the only strategic forum where regulators and senior executives from steel industry stakeholders from across the globe will meet and determine the future direction of steel industry during today's global economy recovering period.
