“FUNDAMENTALS OF MALAYSIA LABOUR LAW FOR NON-LAWYERS”

 WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE : 

This workshop aims to condition Non-Lawyer delegates on the Fundamentals of HR Legal, the legal jargons and technicalities to better comprehend in the 2-day conference on Labour Law.

 

 

  WORKSHOP OUTLINE : 

  • Overview of Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967 & Trade Unions Act 1959

  • Security of Tenure and Section 20 of IRA 1967

  • Legal Rights of Employee and Employer in a Contract of Service

  • Terminating the Contract of Service due to reorganisation, poor performance or misconduct

  • Dealing with Employment case in the Industrial Labour Court

  

ABOUT YOUR WORKSHOP LEADER: 

Rajeswari Karupiah  is at present a partner of the Industrial Relations Practice Group of Zul Rafique & Partners. She holds a Bachelor of Law (Hons) Degree from the University of London and the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP). She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1997. Prior to her admission to the Malaysian Bar, Rajeswari was a lecturer of Commercial and Company law at local higher learning institutions for about 4 years. Rajeswari advises many of the country’s major corporations in the Telco, utilities, insurance, banking and finance, shipping, manufacturing, hospitality services and oil and gas industries.

 WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE : 

This workshop aims to provide fundamental policy and regulatory understanding on matters relating to Labour Law in Indonesia in consideration for those Malaysian companies operating in Indonesia.

 

 

  WORKSHOP OUTLINE : 

  • A summary of prevailing laws and regulations relating to Labour in Indonesia

  • Drafting of employment contracts in Indonesia, do’s and don’ts

  • Between theory and practice – sharing of legal insights including labour action in Indonesian courts 

  

ABOUT YOUR WORKSHOP LEADER: 

Hanim Hamzah began her career at Zaid Ibrahim and Co, before being selected for secondment at a leading Japanese law firm, Anderson Mori & Tomotsune, Tokyo, where she spent five years in the corporate and banking practices, working on various award-winning deals as recognised by Asia Law Business Journal and AsiaLaw. Stimulated by the possibilities of regional development and expansion, she returned to Southeast Asia to be the Jakarta resident partner of Zaid Ibrahim & Co at its associated firm in Indonesia, Roosdiono & Partners.

 

Anderonikus A.S Janis has over 15 years of experience having handled a variety of corporate and commercial dispute cases involving foreign and Indonesian clients engaged in various business areas such as, capital markets, property, hotels, palm oil, banking, investment, coal mining and trade, engineering and construction, electricity power generation, oil and gas, health care, the food industry, telecommunications, information technology, and aviation. He heads the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group at Roosdiono & Partners. Prior to joining Roosdiono & Partners as Partner in 2010, he was Partner at Bundjamin & Partners and trained at Hanafiah & Ponggawa and Jusuf Indradewa & Partners.
